JUSTIFICATION OF THE TIME CHARTERER'S DECISION TO CHARTER THE LEASED VESSELS

When chartering a fleet in tramp shipping, it is virtually impossible to competently draw up a contract of carriage at sea without the involvement of a freight broker, who has universal knowledge of merchant shipping. Recently, however, it is increasingly common to observe that maritime brokerage companies operate chartered vessels independently, trying to maximise their profits. This is how the name ‘time-charter shipowner’ appeared, and this form of activity can be organised without significant financial investments, which is certainly very attractive for companies engaged in fleet operation. In this article, the authors analyze the work of companies operating fleets and propose a model for solving the problem of maximizing profits when chartering fleets in various segments of the freight transportation market. The authors also provide options for chartering a combined fleet and present the specifics of generating income and expenses for a company operating a fleet in various segments of the freight transportation market.
