The Effects of Systematic Desensitization Program Participation in the Injury Trauma Experienced Soccer Players: Focusing on Sports Confidence and Emotional State
This study analyzed changes in sports confidence and emotional state through systematic desensitization program and counseling of soccer players who experienced injury trauma. The subjects of this study were two men soccer players who had experienced serious injury trauma during a soccer game. The injury trauma management was conducted through a 12-session systematic desensitization program and counseling sessions with experts in injury trauma rehabilitation. In terms of test variables, sports confidence was measured by fighting spirit, pressure, composure, and physical preparation, and emotional state was measured by tension-anxiety, depression-discouragement, anger-hostility, vitality-activity, fatigue-lethargy, and confusion-embarrassment. As a result of comparing and analyzing the change rate of each variable before and after participating in the program, the following conclusions were obtained. In sports confidence, fighting spirit, composure, and physical preparation variables increased before and after the program, while pressure variables decreased. In the emotional state variables, vitality-activity and fatigue-helplessness variables increased before and after the program, and tension-anxiety, depression-discouragement, anger-hostility, and chaos-embarrassment variables decreased. In the results of counseling, the coaching staff should recognize the effect and importance of psychological rehabilitation of the team, and parents should give emotional stability to focus on training and play a role of raising self-confidence.
