Dual-Polarized High Directivity and Wideband Cruciform Patch Antenna for Base Station Applications

This paper embodies a Cruciform Microstrip patch antenna with a Single layer with a single-patch dual-polarized antenna which provides high gain and directivity along with wide bandwidth. The Proposed antenna design can be useful for base station antennas. The manuscripts present three antenna structures as a process for the development of the final proposed antenna. The proposed antenna is a dual-fed-symmetric antenna, in which the center part is etched out to achieve the properties required for a base station antenna. Along with better gain and bandwidth, the proposed antenna exhibits very good isolation between the two ports with an efficiency of $\mathbf{9 7 \%}$. The proposed antenna is simulated with CST MWS. The proposed antenna has a directivity of about 12.33 dBi, and a bandwidth of 358 MHz, which spans from 4.9 GHz to 5.2 GHz. Two resonating points are evident from the simulation as 4.99 GHz with a return loss of 20.5 dB and 5.22 GHz with a return loss of 16.16 dB.
