AN EXAMINATION OF QUALITY OF LIFE AND PAIN INTENSITY DURING THE POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD FOLLOWING TOTAL HYSTERECTOMY FOR UTERINE FIBROIDS UTILIZING VARIOUS SURGICAL APPROACHES
The article presents a comparison of pain intensity and quality of life in the postoperative period in patients with different surgical approaches during total hysterectomy for uterine fibroids using the European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions, 3-Level version (EQ-5D-3L). In patients with laparoscopic access, pain intensity measured on the third day of the postoperative period using the visual analogue scale, as usual activities of well as quality of life indicators, such as mobility, self-care, pain / discomfort, were statistically significantly lower; the anxiety/depression indicator did not differ statistically significantly. Total hysterectomy for uterine fibroids using laparoscopic access is better tolerated by the patient compared to open access.
