A CLINICAL CASE STUDY ON ATRIAL FIBRILLATION IN A PATIENT DIAGNOSED WITH OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA SYNDROME
A clinical case that demonstrates the difficulties of managing a patient with severe OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) and cardiovascular complications. For many years, a patient suffering from severe OSA was admitted to the therapeutic department after six months of CPAP therapy with AF (atrial fibrillation) paroxysm for the first time and heart failure. The patient was selected for delayed cardioversion and CHF drug therapy (chronic heart failure) was selected. The complexity of patient management is explained by the aggravating effect of OSA on the pathophysiological mechanisms of AF formation. However, there are no convincing studies that prove the benefit of one of the antiarrhythmic strategies for treating AF in the presence of OSA and the use of CPAP therapy. This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment of OSA, as well as the need for additional research on the impact of CPAP therapy on the management and prognosis of patients with AF and OSA.
