THE IMPACT OF MODERN TECHNOLOGIES ON BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE ESG AGENDA

When analyzing a company’s behavior in the market in modern conditions, it is becoming increasingly relevant and important to pay attention not only to financial indicators, but also to the most diverse social aspects of the results of its activities. Both in the field of theoretical knowledge and in the practical sphere, there is a clear understanding and acceptance of the indisputable fact that a comprehensive socio-economic image of a company, its formation in the short term, as well as its development and continuous improvement in the long term are becoming increasingly important. The abbreviation ESG (Environmental – Social-Governance) has become familiar and well-recognized, it is widely and universally used in various discussions, as well as by the authors of numerous publications on sustainable development in the modern world and the role of the company in this process. It should be recognized that currently no one doubts the fact that innovative technologies, permeating our life, have a huge impact on the company, and this influence is important both for its core business and for the organization of the company’s management system. In this article we have the task of showing the relationship and mutual influence of these three components: new technologies, the ESG context, and the corporate governance process. We pay special attention to Russian realities and those tasks that are most relevant for Russian companies in the current situation. In our opinion, the article may be interesting and useful to students and postgraduates interested in sustainable development issues, as well as to practitioners whose tasks in relation to the company go beyond the purely financial nature and whose experience allows the company to advance towards achieving the goals of sustainable development.
