Syncing AI Education and Business Expectations: Activities at the Scientific Research Institute of University of Economics-Varna

This report outlines activities and strategic initiatives of a newly-established scientific and research institute focused on enhancing AI literacy among academic professionals through structured workshops and instructional sessions. Grounded in established educational standards such as Quality Matters and aligned with AI directives from the EU and U.S., the institute has developed a comprehensive conceptual framework to integrate AI literacy into existing curricula. Initial pilot-type workshops assessed participants’ attitudes and prepared them for advanced training, leading to a proposed three-level workshop structure culminating in microcredentials to validate skills and competencies. By fostering critical engagement with AI technologies, promoting hands-on learning experiences, and incorporating stakeholder feedback, the institute aims to equip educators and professionals with the necessary tools to navigate the complexities of AI in teaching and learning, ultimately enhancing employability in a rapidly evolving job market.
