A influência da ventilação não invasiva no desfecho clínico em pacientes com insuficiência cardíaca crônica agudizada: revisão da literatura
Heart failure (HF) is a chronic and progressive syndrome that leads to the inability of the heart to perform its function adequately, causing changes in the blood supply to the body's tissues or high blood pressure. Acute chronic heart failure (ACHF) is established as the appearance or worsening of signs and symptoms, the most common symptom being respiratory failure, which has commonly been treated with noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV). Objective: To elucidate, through a literature review, the impact of noninvasive ventilation on the clinical outcome of patients with ACHF in a hospital environment, whether there was a significant improvement in the condition and/or adherence to treatment. Method: Literature review through research in the Pubmed database, with the descriptors “(noninvasive ventilation)" (NIV), "(heart failure)", with the Boolean operators AND and OR. Results: 1,319 articles were found based on the established descriptors. After applying the filters, 3 articles remained for the review. The results found were organized in a table with information about the 3 articles selected for the review. Conclusion: NIMV was shown to be effective in the treatment of CHF, but further research is needed focusing not only on the efficacy of NIMV in terms of clinical outcomes, but also on patients' quality of life, long-term functionality and cost-effectiveness analyses.
