RANKING OF METROPOLITAN AIRPORTS USING CIRITIC-BASED MOORA METHOD
Air transportation, which significantly reduces time losses in transit, holds a crucial role in the commercial and cultural interactions of nations. Particularly, airport capacities, which have become a key indicator of strategic advantage, now serve as a competitive element among countries. In recent years, substantial importance has been placed on air transportation in our country, and investments have been directed towards provinces that previously lacked airports. Through these efforts, the goal has been to foster interregional trade and cultural exchange. Furthermore, steps have been taken to balance economic development across regions. In this study, 28 airports located in metropolitan provinces were evaluated based on their performance. Data from 2024 for 4 different criteria were utilized in the analysis of these airports. Initially, the criteria were assigned weights using the CRITIC method, one of the multi-criteria decision-making techniques. The results from this method revealed that the importance levels of the criteria were relatively close to one another (ranging between 0.300 and 0.186). Subsequently, the MOORA method was applied, incorporating the weighted criteria to rank the airports. According to the ranking, airports in densely populated cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya took the top spots, while airports in Tekirdağ, Hatay, and Eskişehir ranked at the bottom.
