Psycho-emotional state of pregnant wives of participants in a special military operation

Background: in the context of societal challenges in the Russian Federation arising from the ongoing special military operation (SMO) Among the most psychologically and emotionally vulnerable groups are the pregnant wives of SMO participants Aim: to assess the psycho-emotional state of pregnant wives of SMO participants via a comprehensive evaluation Materials and Methods: a cohort of 108 pregnant women in their third trimester was divided into two groups for assessment. Group 1 included 51 pregnant women who were not married or had a spouse who was not a participant the SMO. Group 2 consisted of 57 women who were the pregnant wives of SMO participants. The type of psychological component of the gestational dominant (PCGD), the level of cortisol, prolactin and oxytocin were determined before and after the perinatal training program "Conscious Motherhood" Results: the findings revealed that among the pregnant wives of SMO participants, an anxious psychological dominance was identified in approximately one-third of cases with respect to upcoming childbirth, in half of the participants regarding the unborn child, and in two- thirds with respect to their spouses Implementation of the "Conscious Motherhood" program proved effective in mitigating PCGD-related disturbances, as evidenced by improved psychological stability and increased endogenous oxytocin levels in the blood. Despite these improvements, 18% of the pregnant wives of SMO participants required additional psychological counseling from a medical psychologist In addition, it was found that the baseline levels of the hormones studied in the groups did not differ. Conclusion: the Pregnant Attitude Test (PAT) demonstrates clinical utility in identifying psychological components that dominate during pregnancy and can guide the management of psycho-emotional disorders under the "Conscious Motherhood" program KEYWORDS: pregnancy, special military operation, psychological component of gestational dominance, "Conscious motherhood", cortisol, prolactin, oxytocin.
