Analysis of dust and microbial air pollution in voronezh state university academic buildings

Many scientific publications are devoted to the quality of the air environment of classrooms and classrooms. At the same time, schoolchildren and students usually spend breaks between classes in rooms designated for recreation (lobbies, corridors, etc.), where insufficient attention is paid to assessing the state of the air environment. The purpose of the study was to assess the degree of dust and microbial air pollution in the recreational areas of the Voronezh State University academic buildings. A bacteriological study of the air in the recreational areas of three faculties was conducted, and the amount of dust in the air was estimated. It was found that the excess of the standard value for the number of microorganisms per cubic meter of air in 13 of the 24 samples taken was 54.2%. At the same time, the frequency of detection of excess of the standard at the Faculty of Geography, Geecology and Tourism was 50.0%, the Faculty of Economics – 100%, the Faculty of Journalism – 12.5%. According to the dust content, the largest amount was detected in the air of the premises of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology and Tourism, the smallest – the Faculty of Journalism. A comparison of the results obtained with the quality of cleaning and ventilation of the premises showed that sufficient air exchange is the leading factor in reducing bacterial contamination. Regular wet cleaning of the premises is required to prevent dust pollution of the air environment.

At the same time, the frequency of detection of excess of the standard at the Faculty of Geography, Geecology and Tourism was 50.0%, the Faculty of Economics – 100%, the Faculty of Journalism – 12.5%.
