A Study of Visual Elements in Fitness Applications - Examining the Aesthetic Mechanisms of Gamification Design in Fitness App's Primary Interface-
As internet activities occupy an increasingly significant role in people's daily lives, particularly as more people worldwide recognize the importance of the health industry and with the rise of single-person households, fitness methods have shifted in the traditional market from face-toface learning with coaches to online learning. In this social context, users experience various fitness application user interfaces.Based on these experiences, it is necessary to approach users' changing demands and engagement psychology. Therefore, this study analyzes interfaces utilizing visual elements within the aesthetic mechanisms of gamified design, focusing on the interface design of fitness apps, particularly their "home pages."It examines the visual elements that influence users' information retrieval efficiency and engagement behavior to enhance the effectiveness of information acquisition and user participation.Chapter 1 establishes the research background and objectives and outlines the research methods and scope.Chapter 2, under the theoretical background, explores the concepts of fitness applications, the visual elements of user interfaces, gamification, and the aesthetic mechanisms of gamified design.Chapter 3 focuses on case studies, mainly analyzing the visual elements of homepages, and conducts user surveys based on the case analysis results of existing fitness applications. The final chapter synthesizes and summarizes the results of the analysis of the research subjects. It presents comprehensive conclusions by combining prior research, survey data, and theoretical background. This study aims to propose user-centered interface designs that enhance the effectiveness of users' visual information recognition and engagement, improving comprehension and ease of operation for content usage.
