A New Approach for Power-Flow Solutions in Radial Distribution Network with 12, 33, and 69 IEEE Bus System

The study involves creating power flow equations, network representation, and iterative methods such as Newton-Raphson and Gauss-Seidel to solve them. However, these traditional methods may not always yield accurate results, particularly for distribution systems. For more precise analysis, the Forward/Backward Sweep algorithm is employed in radial distribution systems (RDS), effectively calculating branch power flows, bus voltages, and system parameters like node voltage, line current, and branch current. This paper explores the application of the Forward/Backward Sweep method for load flow analysis in RDSs, using a 12-bus, 33-bus, and 69-bus system as examples. By determining bus voltages in the forward sweep and branch currents in the backward sweep, the method ensures an accurate evaluation of system performance, including total active and reactive power and power loss. The entire study has been carried out on MATLAB/Simulink.
