The Effects of Resistance Pilates Exercise on Muscle Function Development and Body Balance in Underweight Women
Underweight is a condition in which both fat and lean body mass, which are the main components of the body, are significantly insufficient, and the body is at a high risk of being exposed to various related diseases and symptoms due to insufficient muscle mass and bone mass that are necessary for a certain proportion. In particular, when muscle mass is insufficient, the cause of most chronic surgical diseases is insufficient power to counter gravity, which can lead to anatomical imbalances such as turtle neck, scoliosis, hyperlordosis, hyperkyphosis, and hunched back due to incorrect posture habits. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of resistance Pilates exercise using equipment on the development of muscle function and body balance in underweight women and to suggest an exercise method that is effective for body correction. According to the research results, in the exercise group after resistance Pilates exercise using equipment, there was a statistically significant difference in the development of muscle function in explosive power (P<0.01), muscle endurance (P<.001), core stability 0° (P<.01), 180° (P<.0010), R90° (P<.001), and L90° P<.001), and in body balance, there was a statistically significant difference in shoulder angle (P<.001). Therefore, it is judged that it can be sufficiently suggested as an exercise that develops muscle function and enables correction of hunched back in patients with low weight and hunched back, and it is expected to be effective in the relatively mild stage.
