Study on Urban Road Congestion Problems Based on Panel Regression Model
With the continuous improvement of urbanization in China, traffic congestion has become a significant problem restricting the sustainable development of major cities. Therefore, it is essential to identify the factors affecting urban traffic congestion and rank the importance of these factors to formulate strategies to alleviate the traffic congestion in major Chinese cities. This study first constructs a set of factors influencing urban traffic congestion. Subsequently, based on panel data from 21 mega and extra-large cities in China from 2002 to 2021, panel regression models are used to systematically analyze the correlation between various factors and urban traffic congestion. Finally, based on the output of the model, strategies to alleviate traffic congestion in major cities are proposed. The findings of this study can provide a reference for the government to formulate more effective road planning schemes, thereby actively promoting the sustainable development of urban transportation.
