Facility Management ESG Maturity Model for Industrial Parks

The research combines ESG rating norms and requirements from China’s mainstream institutions to develop a facility management ESG (FMESG) maturity assessment model specifically for industrial parks. This model consists of five key elements, i.e., maturity levels, key process areas, key practice classes, key practices, and key practice levels. This study employs the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to assess the ESG maturity of FM in Shanghai’s industrial parks. The results indicate an overall score of 3.9578, reaching the standard level, which suggests that the FM in Shanghai has experience in ESG services but lacks institutionalized practices and execution standards. Specifically, Shanghai’s industrial parks have the lowest maturity in terms of environmental aspects. The FM departments in Shanghai’s industrial parks urgently need to establish strict environmental standards, enhance environmental management technologies, and intensify environmental governance efforts. The FMESG maturity model can serve as a framework for optimizing the ESG practices of FM in industrial parks.
