Implementation of Corporate Self-Government Principle at the Level of the Russian Federal Bar Association
The principle of corporate self-government in advocacy is implemented through the activities of advocacy bod-ies, including the Russian Federal Bar Association and regional bar associations. In this article, the author ana-lyzes the legal status of the Russian Federal Bar Association through the prism of corporate self-government, highlights its external and internal manifestations, and distributes the functions and powers of this body of ad-vocacy self-government accordingly. It is concluded that the implementation of the principle of corporate self-government, including through the Russian Federal Bar Association, does not mean complete independence and lack of control in the behavior of the advocates’ corporation and its members. The system of attorney self-government bodies, on the one hand, is hierarchical, on the other, it has a system of checks and balances. The Russian Federal Bar Association occupies a special place in the system of self-government bodies.
