Key Factors Influencing Enterprise ESG Performance
In recent years, there has been an increased focus on the enterprise performance in environmental, social, and governance aspects (i.e., enterprise ESG performance). With growing ESG awareness, the influencing factors of ESG performance are attracting attention. However, there remains a paucity of research dedicated to systematically delineating the influencing factors, let alone delving into the examination of key factors. On the basis of the current literature, this paper summarizes the factors influencing enterprise ESG performance from the perspectives of corporate characteristics, governance mechanism, and external environment and calculates the weights of these influencing factors through empirical research. It is examined that financial performance, equity structure, national regulation, community type, executive characteristics, and corporate size have crucial impact on enterprise ESG performance, and some suggestions for improving enterprise ESG performance are proposed.
