The occurrence of Glossy Ibis <Plegadis falcinellus> Linnaeus, 1766 (Pelecaniformes: Threskiornithidae) in southern Sumatra, Indonesia
Glossy Ibis Plegadis falcinellusis is a rare visitor waterbird in Sumatra where all records are from northern Sumatra. On 13 August 2022, we observed a flock of 72 P. falcinellus in Pasir River, South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. This record was supported by photographic evidence of three P. falcinellus on 21 April 2021 and three on 29 January 2025 from Margasari Village and Braja Slebah, Lampung Province, which shows that this species seems to have spread in the southern part of Sumatra.
