Online Security Behavior Among Students : Factors Influencing Intention to Adopt Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) With Protection Motivation Theory
This study aims to explore the factors that influence college students’ intention to adopt two-factor authentication (2FA) in the context of online security. Using the Protection Motivation theory, this study involved 388 respondents consisting of 189 males (48.71 %) and 197 females (50.77%). The results show that the two main factors that influence 2FA adoption intention are the response cost and effectiveness of the technology, as well as awareness of online security issues. In addition, the study found that 375 respondents (96.65%) had experience using 2FA, with 207 respondents (53.35%) having used 2FA for more than 12 months. These findings emphasize the importance of increasing awareness and knowledge of risks as well as protective measures to encourage more pro-security behavior among college students.
