Design of Hybrid Solar & Wind Tree for Domestic Applications
In recent times, the integration of renewable technologies has become imperative due to the escalating global demand for sustainable energy. The hybrid solar and wind tree offers diverse applications across urban, rural, and off-grid environments. In urban settings, which serves as a multifunctional structure, providing clean energy generation, shading and aesthetic enhancement to public spaces, parks and streetscapes. During daylight hours, the photovoltaic panels convert solar radiation into electricity, while the wind turbines capitalize on wind currents, generating power even during periods of low solar irradiance. The complementary nature of solar and wind energy ensures a consistent output, mitigating intermittency issues associated with standalone renewable systems. This paper elucidates the conceptual framework, design principles and potential applications of the hybrid solar and wind tree. The system comprises vertically arranged branches equipped with both photovoltaic panels and small wind turbines. Apart from a key design considerations encompass optimizing the tree's orientation, branch arrangement, and sizing of solar panels and wind turbines to maximize energy yield while maintaining structural integrity and visual appeal. Advanced control and monitoring systems enable real-time adjustments to environmental conditions, ensuring optimal performance and protection against adverse weather events.
