Indonesian People's Readiness for Blockchain Adoption in E-Commerce

Indonesia's e-commerce industry is rapidly growing, with a notable rise in transaction volumes by 2022. This study explores blockchain adoption in retail e-commerce, focusing on its potential to enhance efficiency and security. It examines the use of blockchain, particularly Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), which uses a private blockchain regulated by central authorities, unlike public cryptocurrencies. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the study assesses public readiness for blockchain adoption through online questionnaires distributed to Indonesian e-commerce users. The results highlight key factors such as security, transparency, cost efficiency, and transaction speed that significantly influence consumer trust and adoption. The study also identifies regulatory challenges and infrastructural readiness as crucial aspects in the adoption process. Furthermore, this research offers practical recommendations for policymakers, industry leaders, and regulators to enhance digital infrastructure, improve cybersecurity measures, and establish a regulatory framework for secure blockchain adoption. By addressing these factors, Indonesia can build a more efficient and transparent digital economy, ensuring sustainable growth in its e-commerce ecosystem.
