Design and Development of Digital Twin Flow Control and FPC Level Application using Mixed and Augmented reality

The School of Computing at ITCA-FEPADE designed and developed a digital twin with 3D elements to simulate the behavior of a Flow and Level Control system. The digital twin virtually replicates the physical environment of the facility, including storage tanks, flow pumps, and sensors, using Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control algorithms to regulate and monitor the flow and liquid level in real time. This tool allows for analyzing and optimizing the performance of the controller, providing a safe platform for testing and improvements without affecting real operations, enabling hands-on training and learning assessment for students in a controlled and safe environment. The digital twin was designed and developed using innovative Mixed and Augmented Reality technologies, such as Vectary, Unity, Vuforia, and Visual Studio. Based on a mathematical model of the process, a computer program was created that, using typical input data from a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) control, is capable of generating behaviors similar to those that occur in the real process. The results were successfully verified with tests in Matlab and experimentally. The program was integrated with three-dimensional objects that together form the simulator.
