Public Perception of Artificial Intelligence: A Quantitative Study
The widespread advancements in Artificial Intel-ligence (AI) have started impacting humans in every possible way. AI is transforming the way we think, work, and behave. While AI has enormous potential to be integrated with numerous applications, it is crucial to understand how public perception is centered around AI. Adopting AI ultimately depends on people, organizations, and society. This paper examines the public sentiment toward AI through a quantitative, data-driven analysis across different demographic and geographical groups. It leverages a publicly available survey data set from The Lloyd's Register Foundation World Risk Poll. This study explores sentiment from diverse perspectives and highlights key factors that shape public opinion. The insights gained from this paper are valuable for potential policymakers, researchers, and businesses to ensure that AI development aligns with societal expectations. By contributing to the expanding literature on the socio-technical aspects of AI, this study sheds light on the public's concern and the importance of promoting an inclusive environment that shapes the development of AI in our world.
