Sucrose Concentration Estimation by Using HSV Color Space Analysis with Raspberry Pi
In this work, we proposed a novel technique to determine the concentration of sucrose by using Benedict’s chemical test and digital image processing. A series of sucrose samples are prepared by mixing with distilled water, covering a range of concentrations from 0% to 50% w/v molar concentration. The images are acquired by using a camera module interfaced with a Raspberry Pi single-board computer. The images are analyzed by using HSV color space. The experimental results demonstrate strong correlations between the color component values and the molar concentrations of the liquid samples. The unique features of the method include its portability, rapid analysis, cost-effectiveness, and suitability for scenarios outside the laboratory environment.
