2.3GHz and 5.8GHz Operated Compact Dual Band Antenna for Wireless Transportation systems

This paper presents design of single feed reversed F-shaped microstrip patch antenna with dual tuning frequencies. The wireless transportation systems require to be robust and securely connected for long time while incorporated for 5G bands. This requirement has to ensure that the antenna has good efficiency, gain and less surface currents. The Rogers RT/duroid 5880 substrate with permittivity 2.2 and thickness of 1.6mm is used. For validation of results, Ansys HFSS is used. The various parameters like gain, directivity, return loss, VSWR, radiated power, bandwidth, etc are obtained within the desirable limits. The surface current on the antenna is reduced in proposed design by 41.28%. Hence, the proposed design is optimum for practical applications.
