A Hybrid Genetic Search Approach for Electric Vehicle Routing with Time Windows

This study addresses the Electric Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (EVRPTW), where the fleet is composed of electric vehicles (EVs). In addition to load constraints, electric vehicles are also limited by battery capacity, which necessitate visits to charging stations during service. We further incorporates customer time window. We established a mathematical model for this problem and employ the Hybrid Genetic Search(HGS) algorithm for its resolution, marking the first application of this approach to the EVRPTW. Within the algorithm, we design a series of operators to construct customer service routes and insert charging stations. We conduct numerical experiments on various instances and compare the results with those of other researchers to showcase the efficacy of the proposed method and analyze the distinctive features of the problem.
