Investigation Into Suitable Number of Stator Slots of MW Class SPMSM Considering Laminated Rotor in Hybrid Propulsion System of Aircraft
This paper investigates the number of stator slots of a MW class surface permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) in the hybrid propulsion system of an aircraft for enhancing efficiency when its rotor is axially laminated. The MW class SPMSM needs to achieve high output power density and efficiency simultaneously. In general, as the output power of electrical motor increases, heat generation becomes a serious problem. Hence, this paper comprehensively evaluates suitable number of stator slots in the MW class SPMSM considering laminated permanent magnets and retainer rings using three-dimensional finite element analysis (3D-FEA) to reduce the total loss.
