A Systematic Literature Review on Document Verification with Blockchain

This paper explores the application of blockchain technology for document verification, emphasizing its ability to enhance security, authenticity, and efficiency. Blockchain, as a decentralized and immutable ledger, employs cryptographic measures such as digital signatures to ensure data integrity and prevent fraud. In education, it combats academic dishonesty by enabling tamper-proof verification of records and qualifications. Similarly, it improves traceability in supply chain management, enhances transparency, and secures medical records in healthcare. Additionally, blockchain facilitates fraud-resistant financial transactions and strengthens data security in various sectors. This review synthesizes research from 2022 to 2024, identifying Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric as key platforms. Ethereum leverages smart contracts for public blockchain applications, while Hyperledger Fabric ensures privacy, security, and efficiency in permissioned environments. A growing trend toward private blockchains and increased adoption of Hyperledger Fabric is observed. The study highlights blockchain's role in document verification, identifies research gaps, and suggests areas for future exploration, including alternative blockchain platforms and their integration with emerging technologies.
