Electromagnetic Vibration Analysis for Dual Three-phase PMSM under Single Three-phase Conditions
For dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (DTP-PMSMs), the single three-phase (STP) operating mode is the simpler and quicker fault-tolerant operation mode, commonly applied in the presence of single, two, or three phases open-circuit faults in the windings. In this paper, the electromagnetic vibration response, electromagnetic output performance and torque ripple are compared for two STP conditions in order to determine the suitable scenarios for each condition to achieve better vibration behavior and output performance under open-circuit faults. Firstly, a rational design of the DTP-PMSM system is given. Secondly, the distribution and amplitude of the harmonics of armature magnetomotive force (MMF), radial and tangential air-gap electromagnetic force density (AEFD) under different operating conditions are analyzed. The vibration response and electromagnetic torque are also compared. The results indicate that electromagnetic vibrations under the STP condition are more severe, especially under Condition II. Under open-circuit faults, Condition I is applicable to scenarios with higher vibration requirements, while Condition II is applicable to scenarios with higher electromagnetic output performance requirements. if the motor vibration level index is satisfied. Finally, the modal and vibration test are conducted under the DTP condition. The simulation results are in good agreement with the test results, validating the effectiveness of the structural finite element analysis model and vibration prediction method.
