Research on the Smart Meter Data Collection System Based on Mobile Internet

With the rapid development of internet technology, traditional electric meters and meter-reading systems have become increasingly outdated, particularly in the context of growing electricity demands from large consumers, such as industrial enterprises, and the increasingly stringent requirements posed by the national grid in terms of supply and consumption mechanisms. To address these issues, we propose the development of a smart meter and smart meter reading system platform based on mobile internet technology. The system is divided into a three-tier network structure consisting of the user, substation, and host computer. Data exchange is conducted via the internet, with the host computer software running on a web server that users can access through their terminal computers and browsers. The host software is responsible for retrieving historical and real-time data from users and storing the historical data in a database. The user in this case refers to the smart meter, where each meter is equipped with a SIM card that has a unique IP address. The SIM card facilitates data exchange with the substation and host computer for data analysis. Based on users’ electricity consumption patterns and their peak and off-peak consumption curves, the system allocates electricity supply in an optimized manner and provides users with energy-saving recommendations to minimize electricity consumption.
