Harmonizing MPI-3 Shared Memory and C11/C++11: A Progressive Hybrid Approach to Parallel Computing

The increasing complexity of hybrid supercomputer architectures necessitates innovative parallel computing approaches, necessitating more efficient and scalable memory management techniques to accommodate the increasing complexity of shared and distributed memory systems. This paper presents a hybrid approach to memory management in parallel computing, combining the Message Passing Interface (MPI-3) shared memory model with modern features from C11 and C++11. The approach aims to improve parallel computing performance and flexibility by addressing the challenges of synchronization, memory allocation, and thread management. The methodology involves designing and implementing a hybrid programming model that balances shared and distributed memory paradigms. Benchmarks and case studies demonstrate the potential of this approach to achieve superior computational efficiency and scalability across diverse high-performance computing (HPC) applications. The results show that harmonizing MPI-3 shared memory with C11/C++11 can significantly reduce overhead, improve parallel task management, and contribute to more robust and adaptable computing frameworks.
