Geophysical Investigation of Fault Connectivity: Analyzing the Cimandiri and Lembang Faults Through Gravity and Magnetic Surveys
This research investigates the connectivity between the Cimandiri and Lembang Faults in West Java, Indonesia, two major tectonic structures with significant implications for regional seismic activity. This study aims to identify geophysical anomalies indicative of potential interactions or stress transfer between the faults by utilizing geomagnetic and gravity surveys. Detailed data analysis, including the distribution of magnetic and gravity measurement points collected in May and August 2024, provides insights into subsurface density variations and magnetic anomalies along fault lines. Historical earthquake data is further analyzed to determine correlations in seismic events along both faults, with the objective of assessing interdependence and risk potential. Preliminary findings suggest the possibility of stress transfer between the Cimandiri and Lembang Faults, highlighting the necessity of evaluating this connection to improve earthquake preparedness and risk mitigation strategies in West Java.
