Protections in Electrical Power Systems: Setup of Simulations and Laboratory Experiments
Education in electrical power protection at universities faces exciting challenges due to the integration of new generation sources and storage systems. This study presents an innovative laboratory exercise aimed at deepening students' understanding of contemporary protection systems. The protection of electrical systems is essential for the reliability of energy networks. In laboratories, computational tools are employed for simulations and experiments, combining practical tasks that enhance learning. The article details the methodology of this experience, which includes an evaluation with students from two universities to identify improvements in the laboratory guide. It analyzes the complexity faced by students, assesses their academic achievements, and gathers feedback. Based on this data, suggestions are proposed to optimize future iterations of the exercise, preparing students to become competent professionals in the field of electrical system protection.
