Development of a Portable Air Quality Sensor Prototype for Real-Time Environmental Analysis
This paper presents the development of a low- cost, portable air quality monitoring device designed to meet the urgent need for accessible solutions, particularly in rapidly urbanizing areas of developing countries where traditional monitoring systems are often expensive and limited. The device utilizes the ESP32 microcontroller and the Sensirion SEN54 sensor module to detect key air pollutants, including PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Equipped with wireless communication capabilities such as Wi- Fi and Bluetooth, the system enables real-time data transmission to remote platforms for continuous monitoring and analysis. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the prototype in accurately measuring air quality, highlighting its potential for integration into broader environmental monitoring networks. This study underscores the importance of developing affordable and scalable technologies to enhance real-time environmental monitoring and public health protection.
