Reproducibility Report for ACM SIGMOD 2024 Paper: 'PECJ: Stream Window Join on Disorder Data Streams with Proactive Error Compensation'

This paper proposes a new solution to handle the issues posed by out-of-order arrival of data when computing a stream window join (SWJ). The authors propose PECJ, a system which proactively manages disordered data streams by relying not just on already arrived data but also factoring in late-arriving data when updating the results of the join. The authors present a set of experiments comparing the efficacy of PECJ to state-of-the-art methods on a range of stream oscillation patterns. We find that on the hardware specified we were able to reproduce the results and plots shown in the paper, illustrating the robust nature of these experiments. Furthermore, the authors provided well-written scripts and easy-to-follow instructions to reproduce this material.
