An Accurate IEEE 802.11 Packet Delay Model for Single-Hop UAV Networks
An accurate packet delay model for the IEEE 802.11 wireless single-hop UAV networks is proposed in this paper. Different from the majority of the existing models which assume that the network is a complete graph and any packet collision will inevitably lead to transmission failure, we consider a more practical partially connected UAV network as well as a realistic receiving model. A closed-form expression for average packet delay is derived based on Markov chain model. The effects of network size, packet generation rate and initial contention window size on average packet delay are evaluated. The simulation results verify the accuracy of our proposed analytical model.
