Effects of Variable Parameters on the Transfer Characteristics of Fiber Optical Current Transformer
As Ultra-High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) transmission and renewable energy-based new type power systems evolve, fiber optical current transformers (FOCTs) with exceptional broadband characteristics are gaining increasing attention. In this paper, we establish a simulation model of FOCT based on its transfer function. Variable parameters such as ambient temperature, central wavelength of light source, optical power and delay fiber length are introduced into the model of FOCT, and their effects on frequency response, steady-state response, impulse response and step response are analyzed. Simulation results reveal that the transfer characteristics of FOCT are affected by the control parameters due to the closed-loop control technology, which needs to be designed and adjusted according to the specific application scenario. The analysis results presented in this paper have certain guiding significance for the application design, field operation and maintenance of FOCT.
