Field Performance Assessment of a 1.34 kW Rooftop PV plant in Delhi: Insight from two Comparative Periods

India’s growing energy demands and focus on energy security highlight the potential of SPV plant. With abundant solar resources, the country is well-positioned to harness solar energy for sustainable development. This study evaluates the performance of a 1.34 kW SPV system at Delhi Technological University, analyzing data from February to August in 2023 and 2024. Key metrics include energy generation, performance ratio $(P R)$, capacity factor (CF), and system efficiency. Results show higher energy generation, PR, and CF in 2023 due to better solar irradiation and lower temperatures, while 2024 performance declined under reduced solar irradiation and higher ambient temperatures. These findings underscore the impact of local environmental conditions on PV efficiency and highlight the need for continuous monitoring of rooftop systems in urban settings like Delhi. Insights from this study support policymakers in optimizing renewable energy integration and meeting solar capacity targets.
