Design and Electromagnetic Simulation Analysis of a New Type of Radial-Axial Hybrid Flux Motor

In the development process of electric aircraft and underwater propulsion systems, motors are required to have high torque density and specific power under weight/volume limitations. This artical proposes a novel radial-axial hybrid magnetic flux motor with high torque capability, which can meet the torque/power output requirements under inherent space constraints. The radial and axial magnetic forces are mixed and utilized, using a shaft radial surrounding anti leakage magnetic structure to reduce the phenomenon of magnetic leakage, realizing the axial application of radial magnetic leakage and the radial application of axial magnetic leakage, improving the utilization rate of permanent magnets. The mutual insertion of axial and radial stators reduces the axial size of the motor, resulting in a small volume. The dual axis stator has high power, concentrated force, and high power density of the motor, effectively reducing the volume and weight of the rotor component. The rotor of the proposed radial axial hybrid flux motor consists of three rotor parts, namely radial rotor and axial double rotor. The stator is designed as a three sided slot structure, surrounded by three rotor parts, ultimately forming a three sided air gap structure. And simulation verification was carried out through finite element analysis.
