Planning and Configuration of Hydrogen Production from Renewable Energy Considering On-grid/Off-grid Scenarios
With the proposal of the “ 3060 “ goal and the new type of power system, hydrogen energy, as a link to renewable energy and an energy storage medium, is expected to play an important role in the new type of power system in the future. This article first proposes a renewable energy hydrogen production system and constructs three typical on-grid/off-grid scenarios: residual electricity selling scenario, grid combined scenario, and off-grid scenario. The characteristics and operating strategies of these scenarios are described. To explore the operational characteristics of systems in different scenarios, a planning and configuration model for hydrogen production systems from renewable energy was constructed based on an improved multi-objective salp swarm algorithm, with the objectives of minimizing the total system cost, maximizing renewable energy utilization, and minimizing load shortage. Taking hydrogen production from a renewable energy project in the northwest region as an example, the model was solved and the effectiveness of the algorithm was verified. The results showed that the total cost of the grid combined scenario was the lowest, and electric hydrogen production could operate stably. The off-grid scenario has the lowest load shortage rate and operates stably under specific supporting power supply conditions. The renewable energy utilization rate is the highest in the scenario of residual electricity selling. Still, the total cost is relatively high, and the electric hydrogen production device cannot operate stably. This article provides a reference for the scenario selection, planning, and configuration of hydrogen production from renewable energy projects, which can improve the consumption of renewable energy, and reduce system costs and load shortage rate.
