A Simple Analytical Approach based Model Based Multi-loop PID Controller Design for Typical TITO Distillation Process

In this paper a model-based decentralized PID controller is proposed based on a unified analytical solution. Basically, this proposed approach provides a method that offers an appropriate trade-off between good servo and regulatory response, as well as robustness under parametric perturbation. In this work, to implement the controller, a decoupler is first developed using the dynamics of the binary distillation column model. Then, a reduced-order model is acquired for the decoupled system. To demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed model-based algorithm two distinct typical case studies have been considered. From the obtained simulation results it is clearly observed that the proposed controller delivers good control action in order to control the binary distillation process
