A Battery State of Charge Algorithm with Observer for Engineering Application
This paper describes an observer algorithm to supersede Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) algorithm to calculate the state of charge (SOC) of battery, including: obtaining battery characteristic data and estimating the open circuit voltage (OCV), Filtering the estimated value with noise to obtain a filtered estimated value of the OCV. Through the operation and correction process of the established observer, the corrected SOC is obtained; Compared with the current mainstream EKF algorithm, the method described in this paper has clear logic and is convenient for upgrading individual functional modules, enhancing the practical application scope of dynamic correction SOC. Through the simplified design of the observer, it has the advantages of lightweight design while ensuring accuracy, making it more suitable for engineering implementation.
