Antenna Design with high Gain and Efficiency for Millimeter wave Applications
The paper presents an compact mmwave microstrip patch antenna operating at 39 GHz suitable for 5 G communications. The radiating patch of the antenna is made with loading a H-Slot and inverted T-Slot on a square patch. Teflon material having dielectric constant of 2.1 and loss tangent of 0.0009 is chosen as a substrate for the work. At the operating frequency i.e at 39 GHz, the antenna exhibits a return loss and gain of $\mathbf{- 1 8. 3 8}$ dB and $9.838 \mathrm{~dB} \pm \mathbf{2. 3 \%} \mathrm{dB}$ respectively. The antenna’s radiation efficiency is noted as $\mathbf{8 6 \%} \pm \mathbf{1. 8 \%}$ the operating frequency. The overall size of the patch is $0.78 \lambda \times 0.78 \lambda$.
