Power Quality Analysis of a Distribution System Using A Novel Shunt Hybrid Filter

In this paper, power quality analysis of a distribution system is analyzed with a novel Shunt Hybrid Filter (SHF). The proposed hybrid filter is the combination of a Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) and a Double Tuned Passive Filter (DTPF). The SAPF and DTPF are designed to eliminate lower and the higher order harmonics respectively which are originated due to the nonlinear load in the distribution system. Cascaded DQ theory (Synchronous Reference Frame Technique) and PQ theory (Instantaneous Reactive Power Theory) including Adaptive-Neuro-Fuzzy-Inference System (ANFIS) is proposed as suitable combined controller for SAPF of the proposed SHF. The main objective of this controller is to generate the accurate reference signal for SAPF to obtain the pulse for the converter by comparing it with the original signal. At the same time DTPF undergoes resonance and provides lowest impedance to the particular frequency of the higher order harmonics. The effectiveness of the proposed HAF with the combined controller is verified through MATLAB/SIMULINK platform.
