Train Autonomous Positioning Based on Visible Light Imaging Communication

Accurate position information is a key factor in ensuring the safe operation of trains in communication-based train control (CBTC) systems. To improve the real-time performance and accuracy of positioning, an autonomous positioning method based on visible light imaging communication is proposed. First, the LED light source is modulated to carry a identifier (ID) corresponding to the information. A CMOS camera, located at the top front of the train, captures real-time images of the LED light source. Next, the sampling technique is used to detect the region of interest of the LED light source, obtaining its position information. Finally, the train's position is accurately calculated based on the camera's imaging principles. Experimental results show that the proposed method can provide excellent positioning services for CBTC systems based on train-to-train communication.
