Design of One Dimensional Wide Angle Scanning Array Antenna in X-band
The design of a one dimension wide scan antenna array is presented in this paper. The antenna element adopts microstrip patch antenna structure, and by adding shorted via holes in the middle of the radiating patch, the antenna element is then divided into two miniaturized patches, and by feeding the two patches with different phases, the beam direction of the antenna element can be steered. The antenna array is connected with phase shifters so that when a progressive phase is loaded, the beam direction of the antenna element is also change with the array factor, which helps to reduce the array gain loss in wide scan angles. The simulated and measured results indicate that the antenna array has a wide scan angle of ±62.3° with a small gain loss of less than 0.84dB. The designed antenna array can found application in radar detection and satellite communication.
