Research on Control Strategy of High-Voltage and High-Power Permanent Magnet Starter-Generator System for Aero-Engines

More/All electric aircraft (MEA) is the inevitable future development trend of the aviation industry. With the increase of electricity consumption in aircraft power systems, the voltage level of aviation high-voltage DC (HVDC) systems will exceed the current 270 V and then 540 V will be the future development target. This paper investigates the control strategy of 540 V HVDC permanent magnet integrated starter-generator system. Dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine (DTP-PMSM) is used to improve fault tolerance. The starting stage adopts the control strategy of constant torque first and constant power later, and the generation stage adopts fluxweakening combined with PWM controlled rectifier. Aiming at the problem of slow bus voltage response of traditional PI control in generation mode, this paper proposes to improve it by using sliding mode control (SMC) combined with extended state observer (ESO). Simulation verifies that the control strategy designed in this paper is feasible, and achieves stable control of the starter/generator system over a wide speed range of 4000~25000r/min.
