High-Quality Development of Chinese Construction Enterprises from the Perspective of ESG—Evidence from the A-Share Market
In 2004, the United Nations Global Compact first introduced the concept of ESG. The ESG concept formally entered the Chinese market in 2008, but it was not widely used in China until the introduction of “Green Finance” in 2016 and the “Dual Carbon” goals in 2020. China aims to peak carbon emissions by 2023 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. This study analyzes the high-quality development of listed construction companies in China’s A-share market from the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) perspective. Through systematic data analysis, the research finds that ESG performance significantly promotes the high-quality development of A-share construction companies in China. Based on these findings, the paper proposes several policy recommendations to guide construction companies towards high-quality, sustainable development under the ESG framework.
