A Study on the Characteristics of Construction Safety Innovation Network in China

Construction industry is notorious for the huge amount of accidents and injuries worldwide. Emerging technology innovations, such as digital technology and artificial intelligence, have been increasingly applied to promote the construction safety management. Based on the patent data from the State Intellectual Property Office, this research examined the characteristics of construction safety innovation network that is established by construction, design enterprises, and other research institutes such as colleges and universities. The results showed that construction safety innovation network expanded sharply recently, while the averaged cooperative frequencies among different construction enterprises were still not ideal. Furthermore, the cooperative types have been becoming diversified, and the research institutes played a more and more important role in innovation dissemination regarding construction safety. This research also provides relevant suggestions for construction safety technology innovation to further foster a safer construction environment.
